In 2018, the renowned Speyside distillery Macallan opened their new distillery and visitor experience. To celebrate, they released their Rare Cask Black Limited Edition 2018 single malt. It matured in first-fill sherry-seasoned oak casks and was bottled at 48%. To ensure the highest quality, less than 1% of the casks that had been laid down was selected to be used in this whisky. This limited edition comes with a pewter flask engraved with Macallan’s iconic logo. The flask was created exclusively for the opening of the new distillery. The box features a stunning photograph by the award-winning Italian photographer Paolo Pellegrin. It shows the new distillery’s ‘curiously small stills’ (yes, that’s the official name) which are some of the smallest in the whisky industry. Only 7000 bottles of Macallan Rare Cask Black Limited Edition 2018 were released.
