Planteray Rum Mister Fogg Navy Rum Sail No. 2 is a “ Navy Rum ” that pays homage to naval tradition and the world of great voyages.
The rums that make up this blend come from various origins in the Caribbean. They are first aged in bourbon barrels in the tropics before being transported in casks to the Cognac region of France.
A second aging process then takes place in oak barrels . Finally, the rum undergoes a final stage before being bottled: prolonged oxygenation in large open casks near a river, recreating the humid atmosphere of the London docks.
Tasting notes
On the nose : notes of caramel and gingerbread rise from the glass, with a closer look revealing roasted pineapple and pine resin. Over time, the aromas evolve towards plum, even cooked prunes.
On the palate : the initial taste is pastry-like, round and smooth; bitter and vegetal notes quickly appear before the sugarcane releases its aromas accompanied by sweet spices.
The finish : light spices and marmalade, a light smokiness and caramelized notes.
