Ballechin 12 Years 2013 1st Fill Monbazillac Hogshead #802 Itineraires Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky ABV 48.2% 700ml
Ballechin 12 Years Old 2013 Monbazillac Cask Itineraires 700ml | 48.2% ABV
This 2013 Ballechin was matured exclusively in Monbazillac wine casks for the Itineraires series. Made from heavily peated malt, it brings together Highland smoke and the honeyed fruit character associated with the sweet wines of south-west France.
Expect balanced peat, ripe orchard fruit, acacia honey, candied citrus and fresh herbs. The palate is smooth and layered, with poached pear, apricot, candied lemon and a long, gently smoky finish. A good companion to the Jurancon cask release for tasting Ballechin through different sweet-wine lenses.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Expressive and refined. A beautifully balanced peat smoke intertwines with generous notes of ripe orchard fruits, acacia honey and candied citrus. Floral touches and fresh herbs evoke sweet white wine influences, while gentle waxy and smoky nuances develop with aeration.
Palate
Smooth and multidimensional. The peat is assertive yet elegant, supporting layers of honeyed fruit, poached pear, apricot and candied lemon. Herbal and slightly winey notes bring freshness, while the smoky backbone adds depth and structure.
Finish
Long, harmonious and gently smoky. Lingering notes of honey, dried fruits, soft peat smoke and aromatic herbs fade slowly, leaving a warm and refined impression.
