Founded in 1969 by Masataka Taketsuru, the Sendai Distillery was established in a serene valley in Miyagi Prefecture, chosen for its pure air, soft water and ideal climate for whisky maturation. Miyagikyo is known for producing a lighter, fruitier and more elegant style compared to its coastal counterpart Yoichi, thanks to its large, steam-heated pot stills that allow for slow and precise distillation.

After a decade-long absence, the Miyagikyo 10 Year Old Single Malt returns in a refined new interpretation. Bright and expressive, it highlights the distillery’s signature fruit-forward style, combining juicy orchard and citrus notes with gentle malt sweetness and soft vanilla influence from maturation. A beautifully balanced Japanese single malt that appeals to both newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts.

Bottled at 45% ABV, Miyagikyo 10-Year-Old is crafted from rare whiskies aged for at least ten years in the mountains of Miyagi Prefecture. The profile features layered aromas of tropical fruits like pineapple and mango, with a palate of vanilla, baking spices, and cloves, leading to an elegant caramel finish. The new label uses textured Japanese washi paper, with the color shifting from pink to deep forest green to reflect the lush natural surroundings of the distillery.
